A Migaly’s Primer
A Migaly’s Primer is a new recurring series describing who Migaly’s are, how they choose a companion, and all the intricate details about them. This article describes the basics of what a Migaly, is and how she chooses a companion.
What is a Migaly?
The word Migaly is the Erudian term for a magically connected animal. A Migaly chooses to attach itself to a magical being, spending the majority of their life with them, and developing one of the closest relationships in the person’s life.
Migaly’s all have some form of magic that is bound by how close they are attuned to their companion, Levels of power and the types of abilities vary. There are five levels. They are stirring, awakened, resonant, joined, and bound. A level that is whispered to exist by the ancients is also called Everbound. No one understands if the level exists.
The Levels of Power of a Migaly
The levels of power is simply a way to describe how advanced the development of the magical bond with animal’s bonded is.
Advancement to the next level for a bonded pair cannot be rushed. Levels develop naturally over time, and if a magical being tries to force the connection, this may cause problems, damaging their relationship, or making the Migaly choose to abandon their companion.
Level I - Stirring
This is the first stage of attachment. An animal has chosen a being, but magic is only starting to be shared between the pair. The Migaly can sense some of the being’s emotions, detect other magic nearby, sense danger and can find their person in a instant.
In most cases the Migaly can find their being anywhere without using the normal senses.
Many in the non-magical community are not aware that the magical being’s companion is a Migaly. They think she is just a pet.
Level II - Awakened
The animal has begun to understand his companion, and her powers begin to awaken through the magic they have shared. In many cases the animal can sense danger, detect other magical creatures, and sense their person’s emotions.
Sometimes, the Migaly will have an unusual gift. This special form of magic might be sensing hidden objects, recognizing lying, or seeing magical auras. The gift is always unique to the Migaly. Skills may be combined.
When a Migaly reaches this level, non-magical beings understand that the animal is a awakened magical companion.
Levell II - Resonant
The magical being and her Migaly are now so close that they begin to influence the other. The Migaly can send images, words, or impressions to the resonant from far away. The Migaly senses when their companion is magically exhausted and works to help temporarily strengthen her.
The Migaly begins to interact with their resonant’s magical keys.
Level IV - Joined
In this level magic can deliberately pass between the pair. The joined become telepathic in communication, briefly share senses, lend magical strength to each other and combine their magical abilities.
For a short time, sight, hearing, emotion, strength and thoughts are often shared to the other.
A joined partnership carries risks to both of the pair. Angelika, for example, could send too much power to Jynx and kill him. If Jynx tries to help to boost Angelika’s strength too much, he could collapse.
Level IV - Bound
It is extremely rare for a bonded to reach this level. While the bound remain separate with individual wills, thoughts and decisions, magically they work as one.
Bound Migalys can communicate instantly, sense the other anywhere across the universe, share magical energy,and amplify the Key magic of their bonded.
Level Found in the Ancient Texts - Everbound
In some ancient texts, and in the whispers of ancients, another level called Everbound appears. The everbound remain connected beyond distance, cosmic gates and even death. They can speak in dreams, use some of the others abilities, and sense each other even though hey have been separated for sols.

Can I have a Migaly?
Maybe? The Migaly chooses the magical being to attach to No one really understands why a Migaly chooses a particular person.
How do I know if an animal has chosen me?
The Migaly might follow you, sleep by you, and become protective. As the connection becomes greater, the Migaly may start reacting to your magic.
Can Migalies talk?
Some Migalies can eventually learn to speak Universal English, but they can only do this to their companion. They still can communicate through behavior, emotion, impressions, images and sounds. Sometimes they can communicate with thougths.
