Lanterns glowed in the Hearthkin’s windows. Laughter drifted across the winds as the aurora swirled and the veil increasingly shimmered as the end of October neared.
Then, the laughter suddenly stopped. Something has come through the veil, and the spirits are afraid.
As Jynx and I wandered the valley, enjoying the cool breezes and the crunchy, toasty leaves. When we entered the valley and walked by a stand of Quilleaf trees, spirits flashed by and settled amongst the tree roots. Fast and hushed whispers rose and drifted from the air towards us. Near the edge of the forest, glowing mysterious footprints led down to the river.
I shivered. The air felt thick and heavy. I knew something was horribly wrong. What was happening.
Lykie, you don’t want to know! Jynx’s eyes grew cobalt and his tail flicked as he stared into the darkness.
