The Spellbound Archives is a new series that will discuss the world of Erudus. Today’s post is the sixth key Interpersonal magic. In the following weeks, information on how magic works, the 13 keys, and the Magus Alliance, will be discussed further. Other elements of Erudus, such as creatures, world building, and sound, will be explored.

What is Interpersonal (Word Craft) Magic?

Interpersonal magic is the art where a maga can use a combination of her senses to “feel” things about others. For example, a master, will know, who in a large room, needs their help the most, who is in danger, or who has done something wrong.

While this magic is relatively uncommon, it is one of the most important in the thirteen keys.

The maga sense what a character is feeling by ,looking at the individual’s energy field, hearing the individual’s voice, and examining their heart-beat. She may also taste the alkalinity of the air near the person, smell the emotion within the person, and feel the reverberation of an individual’s contacts

The great empaths, and counselors, who deal with magical people often have learned some interpersonal magic. Masters of this key make great negotiators, and are often able to bridge differences between diverse nations.

Interpersonal magic allows a character to.

Look at an individual and see the color of their energy. This allows them to know where the inner emotions of a person are resting.
She can hear tones in a person’s voice which can indicate truth, lies, love and hate.
When emotion is really high she can taste alkalinity in the air.
She can smell the emotion of a person she is talking to. Each type of emotion has a different aroma and strength.
Feel the reverberation of an individual’s day, and the people they have met withing that time. For example, the maga can feel if the person has a good or bad day.
Weave all these details together to create a baseline for thoughts or ideas on how to counsel the individual.
Weaving these together, these details can also tell the maga if the individual is in danger, feeling down, being brain washed or controlled.

Who Uses High Interpersonal Magic?

Angelika Moonglenn- Because Angelika has been working on Erudus by herself for years, she had to learn how to understand others quickly. She decided to study interpersonal magic. Already mastering animal magic, and sound magic, Angelika found that she had natural abilities with this key.
Chaiz- the fixer - Although Chaiz struggles with certain important populations, he has mastered this key.. This has helped to efficiently lead his men and women, plan jobs, and to keep magical beings in line.
Elon Ebanth -One of the heads of the Magus Alliance - Works on negotiations discipline, and the general administration of the Magus Alliance.

Limitations and Costs of Interpersonal Magic (Word Craft)

Newcomers to interpersonal magic are considered to be dangerous by the masters. When a person learns this type of magic, any tendency to desire power, is enhanced. The maga desires more power. Th Her health suffers and her relationships dissolve. She is left alone with no one to pull her back.

Masters of interpersonal magic are able to help others easily. They feel in their head and heart, the pain of others. They can use all of their emotions to know what is going on and how to help. Unfortunately, a master is limited, in that there are certain populations or cultures, that they cannot get a “read” for. The master may mistake motives and identities. This does not happen very often, but when it does, it can cause tragedy to both the maga, and those around her ,when she is trying to counsel an individual.

People either stay away from masters from this key, or elevate the master so high in their minds, but they cannot help to fail. They have problems finding mates, are so empathic, they can become obsessed with the situation to the point they become ill.

Society, Technology and Daily Structures.

This key can be beneficial to a society. Civilizations who have a master in interpersonal magic on their employment, run more peacefully and efficiently than others. The maga’s readings and negotiations, help to push the civilizations agenda forward.

Societies that do not have these masters employed, often offer the other maga’s more money to work for them. Their salary increases quickly.

In civilizations that use this key, technology hasn’t been used to create truth checking equipment. Counseling also is very important to these cultures.
