Spells, charms, creatures, and other stuff related to creating magic in Angelika Moonglenn's fantastical universe
“Fear may walk beside me...
But it does not choose my path.”
A mantra that Angelika Moonglennn uses to calm herself.
What are Calming Spells?
Calming spells are short mantras or combinations of words, that Angelika uses to calm herself when faced with anxiety, fear and panic. The words resemble short poetry, and because she is attuned to sound, they are often accompanied by humming or singing.
At the beginning of Angelika’s entry onto Erudus, she is anxious about her new life, fears for the future and is afraid of who she will meet. She says the words below to focus herself as her mother taught her in her childhood. She does not initially understand that magic flows through these mantras.
As Angelika’s magic grows she will use her sound to create other larger spells.
General Calming Songs and Mantras
Angelika’s mom, Eluna, was involved with music throughout her life. She tried to pass on her love for sound to her children. Eluna was always singing at home. Often, when one of her children asked her a question, she would sing back the answer.
Whenever her children were afraid, Eluna taught them to take a deep breath and then to sing some grounding words. She believed, that the time taken to sing these words combined with the magic abilities that her children would develop, would help them deal with whatever situation happens.
As Angelika grew up she started singing small songs and mantras. These songs have become magical, as they can calm both Angelika and others simply by her saying them. Music when attached amplifies their powers.
The words do not rhyme, and often they are not great poetry, but they do affect Angelika and others in a positive way.
Below are several calming mantras that Angelika uses.
"One breath.
One patter of my heart.
One tripping step.
That is enough."
Angelika’s first mantra to calm herself.
When Angelika first appears on Erudus, she knows no one, she has been traumatized and she fears for the future. These are more short words that help her rto emain calm.
I do not know this world.
The world does not know me.
But this journey
Has made me free.

Jynx Songs and Mantras
Jynx is the first creature that Angelika meets on Erudus. From the beginning Jynx tries to help Angelika, but she has trouble trusting him. She first sings calming spells when she is afraid of him. Later she sings spells to calm him and ask him to come.
The world is strange,
The world is new.
Yet somehow...
I don’t fear you.
Mantra after she meets Jynx.
A Migaly is not summoned.
A Migaly is invited,
My magic does not make him stay…
His devotion will not sway.
Mantra Angelika speaks later when she realizes Jynx is a Migaly. She uses it to calm her in dangerous situations, and to keep Jynx out of trouble.
Angelika’s Calming Spells When Meeting New People
When Angelika first meets Serai and Keefee she is still recovering from trauma. When she sees Serai in danger she panics but still does what she can to help.
When Keefee comes out to comfort his wife, Angelika panics. She is still afraid of men thinking that they are all like her grandfather. Mantras, such as the ones below, keep her from fleeing the situation.
My fear is real.
But so is now.
I will breathe.
Then focus.
