What are Stone Charms?
A stone charm is a rock that is believed to have magical power. Powers are often associated with protection, good health, communication with spirits, love, prosperity, or a conduit for increasing magical abilities.
Stone charms are found throughout the Erudian Universe. On Erudus itself, the Great Dragon Stones near Angelika’s home, are considered to be a charm that magical beings to communicate with dragon spirits.
In the Charmed Waters region, a small charm called the Fervent Stone is also found.
Why have Personal Charms?
Personal charms are small trinkets which enhance a person’s life through increased health, memory, happiness and prosperity. Magical beings can also enhance their powers with one of these charms. Sometimes, they can use them to influence other beings to perform actions. Extremely powerful magical beings can use stone amulets to influence others to kill. Because the charm’s influence is temporary, once the person has killed someone, and the charm has worn off. It is hard to prove that the person was influenced by another.
Materials, Meaning and the Power of Stone Charms
Charms come in a variety of stones but they tend to be grouped into the categories below. Beside each category is the affect that people desire. A powerful magical being can use multiple stones. In some cases individuals will make long necklaces or even belts to hold their stones so that they are easily accessible.
Graphite, Flint, Slate, Shale
Said to promote calming - Individuals who live in areas around these stones are considered grounded
Sugilite, Ruby, Diamond, ChrsoBeryl, Star Sapphire
Love, Strength - Individuals who surround themselves with one or more of these stones are individuals who struggle with strength both emotionally and physically. The stones help to level out their strength. If given one of these stones by another the bonds of love are said to continue on beyond life.
Lapis, Carminite, Coesite, Kenhsuite
Wandering stones - Individuals who have these stones seek excitement, meeting new people, and seeing new things. These are often the people who enjoy high risk sports. These charms help to guide individuals on their wanderings and expose new places for wearers.
Ammonites. beings in Amber, Crinoids, other fossiled beings
Protection and health - Individuals who love these stones are connected to the past world and their ancestors. A desire to understand the past allows the veil to provide protection and help individuals with better health. These stones are often used by those magical beings who communicate with the dead. The stones can provide a link to a deceased person and can enhance the magical being’s abilities to communicate with all the dead
Crookesite, Copper, Garnierite, Lazulite
Individuals who use these charms are concerned with prosperity and material things. Wearing these charms is thought to help assure that the wearer will enjoy good things in life. Unfortunately, this often backfires. Prosperity charm wearers often become obsessed with gathering more of these charms. They often do foolish things to obtain them. Sometimes, they are killed, jailed, or lose loved ones because of this.
Ferongirite, Cementite, Iron
Mortality/long life - These charms are considered to offer a longer life. These charms are popular with people who are ill. Most charms bought, sold and found have no power in this area, but because they are so sought after useless rocks are sold inn their place.
Empresitte, Silver, Dickite, Nelenite
Healing - These charms are used by great magical healers in the Erudite Universe. They help smaller wounds heal faster and are used preventatively to stop common viruses. The general public believes these charms are more effective than they really are and sometimes use them instead of going to healers. This has lead to the loss of limbs and death for some individuals.
In all cases, washing a charms under water can help to increase and renew the stone’s energy.
Increasing a Charms Power
In some cases a charms power can be increased in the following ways.
Taking a charm back to its point of origin. - A charm’s strength diminishes the further it gets away from its original location.
Performing spells on the stone. - Specific spells have been used for centuries for this task. Only a master can do this. Others can try but the result is always a disaster. The stone can explode in an individual’s face, a person’s memory can be scrambled, the environment can be affected or the stone may switch categories.

The Great Dragon Stones Important Charms in the Erudian Universe
The Great Dragon Stones - These graphite stones rise from the sea. It is hard to get to them by boat or dragon as the water around them is always churning and spitting up spray and stone. It is believed that anyone who can ride on the back of the spine stones, will be blessed with the wisdom and the long life of dragons.
The Fervent Stone is a small ruby that glows orange when anyone touching it thinks about their loved one. Many people travel to hold the stone just before they become bonded. It is rumored that couples who touch this stone will live happily together for their lifetimes.
Charms Important to Angelika
A Sulgilite bracelet given to Angelika by her mother before she died. The bracelet is old and bent but it is the memory more than the charm that is important for her. It will take many years before she will actually use the bracelet as a charm.
Chaiz Wolffglen will also give her a charm, an amber necklace that will be important to her in the future.
