The 13 Ancestral Families of Magic
The Families that Live by the Keys.
The Great War and the Tumbgala
Long ago, when there was no magic, there was a great war. A conflict in which the people called the Kilgerat, struck the great council of the universe, destroyed the systems of justice, and eradicated the laws that ruled all people.
The Kilgerat were corrupt, cruel and evil. When they took over the great council, and its wealth, they planned to steal resources, overtake governments, and imprison masses of people. They used the prisoners’ labor, to work in industries, that increased their wealth. When the slaves got hurt, or refused to do their bidding, they were killed.
Four hundred and three Gollinkan years later, millions had died, the resources of many planets had been ripped away, and the Kilgerat became even greedier.
The people were tired of watching their friends and family die, they were exhausted from their work, and they could no longer ignore the Kilgerat’s cruelty. So, with very little to lose, a small selection of people, met at the Kilgerat’s home base, a planet called Tumbgala, to confront their captors.
The Traitor Antiuyani
Chumberst spread a deadly bacteria among the masses, thinking it would end everything. Instead, thirteen families survived — their brains transformed, awakening magic - becoming the first to master the Thirteen Keys of Magic.
The Legends of the Great War - 121st Edition
Although the people had few resources, few weapons, and little combat experience, they could have overcome the Kilgerat very easily. They, after all, outnumbered the corrupt. But a traitor emerged, His name was Antiuyani. His family had been killed when he was eight, after which he floated from job to job and place to place, never daring to care for anyone again.
Antiuyani, chased power, luxury, and ease, not caring who would bear the consequences of his actions, if it wasn’t himself. So, when the people from his galaxy made plans to go to war at Tumbgala, he snuck a message to the Kilgerat’s cruelest leader, Chumberst, that a great uprising was about to occur.
Chumberst was ready when the masses appeared. He called upon the demon hoard of Vilmano, to come forth with their winged Huxam, to spread a deadly bacteria among the masses.
The Bacteria and the Change
When the masses were exposed to the bacteria they became mortally ill. Most of the people died and moved on to the great lights in the veil, but the bacteria reacted differently on those individuals who survived. There were only thirteen of them, but after days and weeks of sickness, their neural networks morphed, and they became one with the great energy of the universe.
Each mind reacted differently to the same bacteria, bestowing unique abilities on each person. These individuals learnt to use magic and became the great magical families of the universe.
The Power - How to Protect the Universe
As the brains of these family’s children and grandchildren changed, and the great families inter-married, magical powers grew, and few rare individuals were able to become masters in more than one key.
The thirteen families, having lived through the Great War of the Universe, having watched powers grow, and understanding that these powers could be abused, were determined to protect the masses. To protect all, they created the Magaus Alliance, and its charter.
The thirteen families still exist, although scattered among the stars, and the Magaus Alliance still seeks to protect all from the abuse of magical power.

I like the concept of the story and the way you use a plain narrative in order to deliver it. The thirteen families and their magic are truly interesting. Maybe consider adding some conversations in the next scenes so it would be more engaging. But in general, really rich imagination here.☺️
