Species: Shapeshifting Lynx who becomes a shadowy magical creature which defies categorization

First Appearance: Appears towards the end of the first novel.

🔹 The Surface
Jynx appears to be soft and cuddly. Although he comes from the wild realm, everyone thinks he is happiest, when he suns himself on mountain ledges, gorges on meat, or plays pranks on Angelika. He has a reputation for begging at state dinners, and grabbing children’s waka balls. Everyone loves him and thinks he is a pet.
🔹 The Truth Beneath
Jynx is a migaly. (a shapeshifter who is attached for life to a maga or magus). Jynx is not a pet. He is an independent thinking creature, who is able to communicate telepathically to his maga, Angelika.
When Jynx appears in his normal form he is a lynx. When he shapeshifts he becomes Bruiser. Bruiser is a supernatural being of unknown origin. No one, not even the high scientists of the realm, know what he is.
Jynx loves Angelika and would die for her. He helps in all ways possible on her journey to self discovery, and making Erudus a better place to be.
No one understands Jynx’s past, or how old he is. Angelika believes he is very old. He has scars on his feet, and a limp that appears when it is too cold. Angelika has tried to get him to talk about his path, but he will not. Instead, he walks away..
Jynx is actually very kind. He loves children, and will do whatever he can to help them. He sits and listens to the conversations at the great feasts, entranced in learning about others.
Jynx adores Angelika. Although wild at heart, he chooses to stay with her. He listens to her when she tells him to be compassionate, but, if when she put herself in danger, he would kill for her.
Jynx is a good judge of the motivations of the people he meets. Although, Angelika can take care of herself, Jynx has purposely scared people away from her when he thinks they will hurt her.
🔹 Power & Magic
Primary Ability: As Bruiser, the character is able to walk through walls, enter and leave the spiritual world without injury, and can communicate with animals and spirits. His jaws are powerful enough to bite through iron, and his claws can slash through beams in one swipe.
Secondary Traits: Good judge of character. Lynx can hypnotize others with his eyes. Usually used to lure others away from Angelika
Limitations: Extreme cold causes him pain and limits his abilities. In these instances, the pain can cause his magic to fail, risking that he will be killed. Jynx’s love of food is also a problem. He cannot stop himself from gorging on certain foods, to the point he will sit down and not move for hours. In certain situations, this can be extremely dangerous.

Fiercely loyal to Angelika - sometimes he is overprotective.
Sensitive to the magical boundaries - knows when they haves shifted earlier than Angelika
When angry he has a tendency to be rude in any way he can. When angry at someone, if the person is not “evil”, he will smack them on the head with his front paw. The person is never hurt, but she is usually knocked down.
Loves to be the center of attention. Whenever there is a performance, meeting, or picture, he expects to be included and mentioned.

That night, when the danger came, she stood shaking, but refused to let anyone suffer as she had. She whispered kindly to me, not afraid of my teeth, snarl, or size. That’s when I chose to protect her from harm, until I died.
