Erudus is a world filled with sound. Wind whistles constantly through the mountains as the Hearthkin communities tingle with chimes. Creatures call with vibrant intensity underneath the humming aurora. And, all over the mountains, voices of the ancients speak to those who listen.
In the Echo Caverns, sound is intensified and has an unfamiliar harmony that becomes part of Angelika’s identity. She often wonders if sound has become woven into her blood, but she doesn’t know, and she doesn’t understand where she will find the answer. Much later in the story of the Wanderer, Angelika will find out why she is so connected to music.

This piece is inspired by the ancient world, and Angelika’s feelings of loneliness, awkwardness, fear, and awe when she steps through the gate and lands on Erudus.

FROM ERUDUS TO OUR WORLD
Hi guys.
When I started the Wanderer Between Worlds I knew I wanted some music, but the more I pictured Erudus in my mind, the more I realized I wanted to make a place where sound and music predominated the landscape.
The first thing I thought about was what would happen if music became intertwined with magic. I wanted to see the effects directly, so Angelika Moonglenn’s mastery of music and sound began.
In the novel, as soon as Angelika enters Erudus, her sound changes and music becomes a major part of her life. Music is included in her spells, she plays an aioni (a violin-like magical musical instrument), she can hear sound everywhere, and her spells become infected with sound.
In order to inspire me, I had a short piece of music commissioned to be the theme of Wanderer. Listen carefully, you’ll find that music does not always stay the same in Erudus. As it gets colder in the Spineback’s, and the season of remembrance and spirits approaches, the music itself will take on a different sound.
