The Author - Susan Rader

Hello and welcome to SPUNKY AND SPELLBOUND IN THE SNOW. I am an author and a creative person.

I love being transported to other worlds while I read. I enjoy mystery, fantasy, science fiction, and mystery. I have several favorite writers from different genres. I enjoy books from Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Ursula K Le Guin, Lewis Carroll, Sue Grafton, Louise Penny and others. I read most genres except horror.

When I was young, I started writing about magic, fantastical creatures and far away places. I wrote stories for children and for young adults, but recently I returned to writing fantasy and mystery. I am currently working on concepts for both.

My main fantastical text is currently titled the Butterfly Awakens. You will find this work discussed here.

You may wonder who I am. I am a graduate of university with education in Anthropology, English, and Creative Writing.

In my spare time I enjoy all kinds of art. I work on pottery, painting, and recently have started to learn the guitar and piano.

Living in a northern community, I am surrounded by nature, and I love the outdoors. Stepping outside with my dog, Barrow, we have encountered deer, bears, rabbits and woodpeckers. Apparently, there is a lynx here, but I have not yet seen it.
